We came to Hei Heiβs after a huge walk and starving. We originally ordered to takeout but were kindly given drinks vouchers and so ventured to the bar upstairs. As we were waiting the lovely staff asked us if we would like to eat in the restaurant instead. We explained we would love to but our dog was waiting in the car. Mani and the other manager then said it was no problem to bring our pooch in! They treated our pup to chicken and pork before bringing us a delicious feast! The atmosphere and music was relaxed and ambient and the food was fantastic. I canβt recommend this place enough for both service and food. Needless to say, we canβt wait to return :) Recommend: the best curry sauce Iβve ever had
We went to Hot Duck, which is their upstairs restaurant after having a takeaway via derliveroo which was pretty good. The restaurant has good atmosphere and decor. The food comes out when it's ready rather than in courses which is fine also. We had chilli beef, some ribs which were lovely however the jasmine rice was wet and not as good as I can make it at home, and I am not that good at making it. The problem was the service, despite the small restaurant size and having ample staff we had to flag them down, they are not attentive and seem to be avoiding you attention. It was funny because they were only attentive at clearing the table which they tried with some of the dishes we were half way through and even my wine. As I said the food was not bad and the atmosphere good, however we probably won't go back. Also prawn crackers should never be Β£5, they are not that price down south or even in central London.
Our order arrived within the hour however was a disappointment considering it cost us Β£60 for 2! The food was luke warm and the salt and pepper squid was dreadful. ( a soggy mess) We also realised we had been sent the wrong sauce, after a quick call, we presumed considering we live 4 mins away in the next village it would be a quick resolution however 40mins later and still nothing arrived. We then called up to say don't bother bringing it as we had eaten the Chinese. They explained they would send the driver back with a refund for the missing item. We are still waiting.. We won't be a returning customer. Extremely disappointed.
I went here during the band contest last weekend and safe to say I was disappointed. I understand the streets were busy but there were only 2 other customers inside waiting to be served excluding myself. I ordered salt and pepper chips with a tub of curry sauce. For starters they weren't even 'chippy chips' and they were chips straight out the bag you buy is a supermarket!!!! Also, there was literally just a few strands of onion and even less peppers. Chips were over cooked and not edible at all. The curry sauce was extremely salty and not edible. Very disappointing.
First time try and will definitely be back, home made dumplings and they were incredible! Great service and great food!
